McDonald’s says no to imports

The Fast food major McDonald’s, which has been caught in the cross-fire of the FDI debate in Parliament, first denied it imports potatoes, and then qualified it by stating that it imports french fries only on “rare occasions.” However, official import landing data accessed by Business Line suggest the company imports fairly substantial quantities on a regular basis. In November alone, MacFries (McDonald’s trademark French fries) worth Rs 3.5 crore were imported through Nhava Sheva port.
