Crompton Greaves to foray into smart grid products

Electrical equipment maker Crompton Greaves, part of the Rs.21,164.02 crore ($4 billion ) Avantha Group, is setting up a greenfield plant in Jigani Industrial Area, Bangalore. The plant, which will be operational by this year-end, will produce intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) which are critical in the control and monitoring of power systems. This might be termed as India's smart grid initiative as per the company.
